South Africa

South Africa has a population of 49,052,489 and its capital is Pretoria. In 1806 the British conquered the Cape of Good Hope. After that most Dutch settlers moved north to create republics of their own. When diamonds were discovered in 1867 and gold was discovered in 1886 there was more wealth. The Dutch, or also called the Boer, were defeated against the British in the Boer War from 1899-1902. The new Union of South Africa was created and so was apartheid. Apartheid separated the two races forcing them to relocate, take separate buses, etc. In the 1990's apartheid was ended and blacks were ruling again.
